With an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Dr. Phan brings a strong foundation in problem-solving and innovation to modern urologic care. He is deeply committed to applying the latest medical technologies to improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Phan is known for his meticulous surgical technique and attention to detail. During high school, he worked part-time as a watch repairman, an experience that instilled precision, patience, and care that continue to guide his approach to medicine today.

​Dr. Phan is a recognized pioneer in the treatment of BPH. With over 30 years of experience practicing urology, he was the first urologist in Orange County, California, to offer Rezum treatment. Patients travel from across the United States to seek Dr. Phan’s expertise, particularly for complex and challenging BPH cases.

About Cu Phan, M.D
Dr. Phan is a board-certified urologist with a lifelong passion for science, technology, and medicine. He studied chemical engineering and pre-medicine at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and received early acceptance into the UCSF School of Medicine. He earned both his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he also completed his urology residency, served as Chief Resident, and completed a year of clinical research.​
An innovative surgeon, Dr. Phan is the co-inventor of four U.S. patents in medical devices and the co-author of five patient-focused books on common urologic conditions. He is the Executive Director of Urology Care Center, Inc. in Newport Beach, California, where he provides personalized, patient-centered care.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Phan enjoys gardening and growing his own fruits and vegetables as part of a healthy lifestyle.
